Astronomy & Night Sky Summer Series - Perseid Meteor Shower
Discover the night sky from Assateague Island! The event will begin with auditorium presentations followed by stargazing with telescopes. Astronomy 101 Presentation 7:30, 8:00 and 8:30 p.m. in the Herbert H. Bateman Educational Center Auditorium (limited space available; first come, first serve; rain or shine). Night Sky Observations through telescopes (subject to cancelation due to inclement weather; refuge closes at 10 p.m.) 8:30 - 9:45 p.m. North End of Parking Lot #1. The series is free and open to the public, however park entrance fees still apply. Optional items to bring: binoculars, a red light, and insect repellent. There series is a collaboration between Assateague Island National Seashore, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation and the NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center.
